Truckman has developed a new range of white gel coat finish for its commercial hardtop range, which matches OEM’s white paint and reduces lead times and costs.
Working in partnership with composite and resin specialists, Truckman has colour-matched its white gel coatings to the white paint used by vehicle manufacturers Ford, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen.
The white gel finish offers a more robust finish compared to the wet paint finish, thanks to the gel coat having good chemical and impact resistance. The hard-wearing gel coat is much thicker than wet paint, so scratches can be easily polished out from the hardtop’s exterior. The gel coat finish has comprehensive UV protection to provide a durable long-term white finish.
Environmental costs are also reduced because there is no paint used and the finished surface is much tougher than normal vehicle paint, so the product will stand up to the rigors of a commercial life better.
All hardtops specified by dealerships and fleet operators will now be supplied with the new OEM matched white gloss finish, which means that all white commercial hardtops will not require painting, and inevitably reduces cost and lead time for customers.
The commercial hardtops which feature the new gel white coat are designed and built at Truckman’s production facility in the West Midlands.
Mike Wheeler, Executive Chairman of Truckman, said: “Developing our new gel white coatings to OEM white codes offers tangible benefits to customers, most notably by reducing vehicle lead times and costs, which enables companies to get their new pick-ups into the field quicker.
