UK-first boutique exercise studio with a high-end nightclub vibe opens its doors for the first time in Birmingham

A brand-new, state-of-the-art fitness studio with a ‘high-end nightclub vibe’ is coming to Birmingham, offering locals a unique workout experience right in the heart of the city.

The contemporary boutique studio, BLAZE by David Lloyd Clubs, is set to officially open its doors in early January 2020, becoming the brand’s first stand-alone boutique studio in the UK. The concept follows the huge success of BLAZE Studios within David Lloyd Clubs which have been rolled-out in 64 Clubs across the UK and Europe over the past two years and now enjoy a cult following amongst members.

The new, flexible, pay-as-you-go studio will offer dynamic and fast-paced HIIT (high intensity interval training) full-body workouts combining combat and mixed martial arts with intense cardio and strength training – all led by ‘rock star’ instructors and synced to high-energy music, specially curated for the classes by BLAZE’s exclusive music curator, ‘Dax’ plus cutting-edge light effects. HIIT is known to be the most effective way to exercise and keep the heart fit and conditioned.

To keep participants motivated and energised, the studio will change its workouts on a daily basis, and integral to the experience will be the use of the innovative Myzone wearable heart rate system enabling exercisers to track their progress in real-time, enjoy an element of ‘gamification’ and achieve their personal best.

Located on Cornwall Street in the centre of Birmingham’s business district, BLAZE by David Lloyd Clubs will offer a fresh and contemporary space for workout fans, with sleek, modern interiors, contemporary changing facilities, showers and lockers, and a capsule fitness retail space – all under one roof.

A smoothie bar will offer a range of post-workout protein smoothies including ‘The Bull’, the ‘Floozie in the Smoothie’ and the ‘Cornwall Sweet’, all featuring protein whey combined with a range of fresh and healthy ingredients – from spinach and flax seed to blueberries and bananas.

The studio's retail space will stock a range of activewear from Swedish total wellness brand, Casall, with its consciously designed collection in sustainable and technical materials, specifically made for HIIT concepts like BLAZE.

Zoe Mead, Studio Manager for BLAZE Birmingham, said: “There are a number of David Lloyd Clubs in the local area, but this will be our first stand-alone boutique BLAZE studio in the UK, and we are incredibly excited to be bringing our unique offering, which we believe is as good as any boutique HIIT product in the world, to such a vibrant and diverse city.

“We have quite a few surprises in store for the Studio, which will have a completely different look and feel from any other BLAZE in the country, and we’re looking forward to seeing the reactions from the public when we open the doors in January.

“We’re confident that the new studio will offer not just a fun and effective way to keep fit, but a real lifestyle destination for ‘work hard, play hard’ people living and working in the city.”

BLAZE Birmingham will be officially open to the public in early January, with a limited number of exclusive ‘sneak-peek’ classes available now.
