Tis the season! Edgbaston Village set to host its annual Christmas Lights Switch On

The festive season is almost upon us and Calthorpe Estates will be kicking off the most wonderful time of the year with its annual Christmas Lights Switch On event in Edgbaston Village.

Tis the season! Edgbaston Village set to host its annual Christmas Lights Switch On

On Friday 22 November, from 4pm-7pm, the celebrations and switch on will take place on Highfield Road, with the lights set to illuminate the streets of Edgbaston Village for the Christmas period.

Visitors will be treated to a host of family-friendly entertainment ahead of the big switch on at 6pm, including a brand-new addition to the programme for 2019 – a special Frozen-inspired performance from Elsa, Anna and Olaf, who will be singing iconic songs from the hit Disney movie. There will also be performances from The Miss Fortunes and Elmhurst Ballet School.

Free Radio DJ, John Dalziel (known as JD), will lead the countdown, joined by Santa Claus and a local school choir, who will be on hand to spread festive cheer with a performance of Christmas carols.

Highfield Road will be lined with local businesses offering gourmet street food, with a range of delicious festive food and drink options, to ensure local foodies can eat, drink and be merry.

To top the evening off, Santa Claus will officially be coming to town, and guests will even have the opportunity to meet his real-life reindeer and helpful elves. There will also be children’s fairground rides and face painting to help get the festive season off to a magical start.

Natasha Walkden, sales and marketing manager for Calthorpe Estates, said: “Now in its fifth year, the Edgbaston Christmas Lights Switch On is always a popular community event which gets everyone into the festive spirit.

“As always, we have a fantastic evening planned, packed with plenty of food, drink and entertainment for our visitors to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming people of all ages to the celebrations, to help us officially get the Christmas 2019 countdown underway and hope people will take the opportunity to visit Edgbaston Village to enjoy the lights as well as the places to eat, drink and explore.”
